Building trust and brand equity for a German mining company in Canada.

Overview
The K+S Potash Group (K+S), headquartered in Germany, is one of the largest potash producers in the world. In 2017, it expanded into Canada for the first time with the Bethune Mine in Saskatchewan. As operations matured, the focus shifted from construction to consolidation, reinforcing long-term presence through the Youth+Us program, which invests $2 million annually into communities across the province.
Challenge
The commitment of K+S was real. The impact of Youth+Us was real. But the visibility didn’t match the effort. Initial messaging about the program failed to connect emotionally and struggled to find traction on the platforms it was deployed to.
Insight
Our understanding of Canadian audiences – and of how European companies are perceived here – shaped the approach. German industry carries credibility in Canada for precision and engineering excellence. But long-term integration requires something more human. By highlighting individual Youth+Us stories, we translated European corporate investment into local, personal impact. And thanks to our strong network of media partners, we knew exactly where to deploy them.
Results
The revised strategy drove a 268% year-over-year increase in page views and sustained engagement for an average of 3.5 minutes per visit. More importantly, it helped position K+S not only as a major employer but as an invested and visible member of Saskatchewan communities, strengthening long-term brand equity in Canada.
